Course outline:

This course caters for all abilities, from beginners to advanced makers

Each session is 2.5 hours long, allowing for 2 hours making, and half an hour cleaning and packing up.

Beginners will be taught the fundamental techniques of ceramics, including a range of handbuilding techniques, to surface decoration and glazing. During the course you will also have an intro to the potters wheel.

Makers with prior experience can carry out their own projects, in handbuilding and potters wheel

Once you have completed the course, beginners can progress onto the potters wheel course to develop their throwing skills or continue in the Studio Ceramics class for handbuilding projects.

We also regularly offer one-off workshops and masterclasses covering further techniques that can help you to develop your practice.

The course includes 3kg of fired ceramics, any extra will be charged at £4 per kg.

We will email you when your work is ready to collect after a few weeks, and you can come and collect your pots on Sundays between 10am and 4pm. We keep work for 2 months after emailing, after which we have to dispose of the work as we have limited storage space.
***Please bring a towel and an apron for the duration of the course as you will get messy! (We do sell these if you need them, but we do not have any to borrow due to the cleaning this creates for us.)***
Please ensure that you have short nails and long hair tied back for throwing, and any jewellery should be removed from your hands and wrists. False nails should be removed as this will seriously hinder your ability to throw.
Please ensure that you can attend all sessions as we cannot offer space to catch up a session in other classes.
