Studio Assistant

We are a growing ceramics studio based in a converted mill in Salford, meeting local demand for creative facilities and unique experiences. We are passionate about all things clay and offer our studio users opportunities to learn, develop and thrive together in a positive environment.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing business and creative community, with opportunity for career progression. The right candidate will have experience or a background in ceramics and must be a certified clay nerd. You will work closely with our studio manager and tutors to offer excellent service to studio members and students.

Responsibilities:

Working closely with the studio manager and tutors to ensure the smooth running of the ceramics studio.

Reclaiming clay

Safely mixing house glazes and slips

Glazing work from one-off workshops

Kiln management

Preparing materials and equipment for classes

Monitoring stock levels

Deep cleaning the studio

Maintenance of studio equipment and general housekeeping

Taking on other studio related tasks

 

10 Hours per week, term time, over 2 shifts, with opportunity for overtime available.

£9 per hour.

Part Time Ceramics Tutor (£25 per hour, sessional work)

We are a growing ceramics studio based in a converted mill in Salford, meeting the local demand for creative facilities and unique experiences. We are passionate about all things clay and offer our studio users opportunities to learn, develop and thrive together in a positive environment.

We are looking for a part-time ceramics tutor, to teach ongoing courses and one off workshops, on a sessional basis at £25 per hour.

You will work closely with the studio manager to offer quality classes and workshops, from technique-specific one-offs, to larger group pottery experience parties.

 

Requirements:

Skills in handbuilding and throwing (essential)

Experience of teaching (desirable)

Ability to adapt teaching to suit a range of abilities and types of class (essential)

Ability to stay calm and laugh convincingly when ‘Ghost’ references are made (essential)

 

Responsibilities:

Developing lesson plans for classes and workshops

Preparing resources, equipment and materials for workshops

Delivering classes tailored to the needs of  learners.

Ensuring that the studio is left clean and tidy at the end of each session
